PMAB Scholarship General Information:

  1. This application is to be used by graduating class of 2026, high school seniors who will study at accredited post-secondary institutions or educational training programs in the fall of 2026.

  2. The student must be enrolled at Patterson Mill High School (PMHS) and have participated in at least one complete season as a PMHS athlete or manager of a varsity team.

  3. Current athletic eligibility will be verified by the PMHS Athletic Director.

  4. The applicant is responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information, signatures and official documents. Applications are evaluated on the information supplied; therefore, answer all questions completely. Give specific dates and hours when required.

  5. The Patterson Mill Athletic Boosters (PMAB) Scholarship Committee reviews and determines applicant eligibility criteria. Family members of the PMAB Booster Scholarship Committee are not eligible to apply for the scholarship. Criteria may include all or some of the following:

    - Academic achievement: Cumulative GPA of 2.0 (based on 4.0 scale) at the end of the second quarter (first semester) of 2025-26 school year,
    - Athletic participation as a player or manager,
    - Essay quality,
    - Leadership roles,
    - Honors/Awards,
    - Service to others,
    - Work experience and
    - Must have a PMAB membership by Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
    NOTE: FINANCIAL NEED WILL NOT BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION;  AWARDS WILL BE GRANTED WITHOUT REGARD TO RACE, GENDER,  ETHNICITY, RELIGION, OR DISABILITY

  6. The PMAB Executive Board will fund one $1000 scholarship and five $500 scholarships for school year 2025-2026. The $1000 Scholarship is the “Malamute Service Scholarship” in honor of Isaac Pfarr and Rick Snyder who passed away while students at PMHS. All applications compete for the $1000 scholarship, and if not awarded the Malamute Service Scholarship, all compete for the remaining $500 scholarships. Criteria for the Malamute scholarship includes all of the criteria above, but with greater weight on the applicant’s leadership and service to others.

  7. The Scholarship Committee invites individuals from the community to judge the essays using a standardized essay rubric. The judges are not parents of current Patterson Mill senior students. The scholarship applications will be validated for eligibility, de-identified and number coded by the scholarship committee before being given to the judges for evaluation.

  8. All documents submitted to the Patterson Mill Athletic Boosters Scholarship Committee become the property of the committee. Documents will not be released to the applicants, nor will they be forwarded to any other institutions or agencies.

  9. Scholarships will be announced and presented during the Senior Awards Assembly on May 19th.

Eligibility:

The applicant:

  1. is a high school senior graduating from Patterson Mill High School (PMHS) in
  2. has participated in at least one complete season as a PMHS athlete or manager of varsity team.
  3. has a cumulative GPA of 0 (based on 4.0 scale) at the end of the 2nd quarter (1st Semester).
  4. is eligible for participation in school activities at time of application and distribution of the
  5. has a validated acceptance into a secondary
  6. is a PMAB member by April 1, 2026

ESSAY TOPIC: Pick one specific aspect of your high school athletic experience and tell how it impacted your life.

Please submit the application and your essay by 2:30 pm, Wednesday, April 15th, 2026. Late applications will be disqualified.

PLEASE PLACE FULL APPLICATION IN A SEALED ENVELOPE marked with: PMAB Scholarship Application, Attn: John Campo and drop off in the school office. 

Limitations:

  1. Scholarship funds are to be used within the 2025-2026 academic
  2. Scholarship funds will be sent directly to the designated institution and can be used toward college fees, books and/or
  3. If the student withdraws from their program of study prior to the funds being exhausted, the remaining funds must be returned to the PMAB as soon as possible.
